Five days before the election on December 7, President Nana Akufo-Addo has criticized former President John Mahama and the NDC flagbearer for not offering a clear plan for his proposed 24-hour economy policy.
He claimed that questions concerning the policy’s viability and possible effects on the economy were raised by Mahama’s absence of a thorough implementation plan.
President Akufo-Addo claimed that his loss in the 2016 elections was due to the four years of former President John Mahama’s administration and performance.
He predicted that Mr. Mahama would lose the 2024 election once more.
Speaking in Dambai, President Akufo-Addo said that all of his predecessors had been granted second terms, with the exception of Mahama, and he blamed Mahama’s defeat on his poor performance, which infuriated Ghanaians.
However, he questioned Mahama’s pledge of a 24-hour economy, highlighting the power outage that transpired while he was Ghana’s president.
Citing concerns about trust and the possible danger to the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy, the President urged Ghanaians to vote against former Mr. Mahama in the next elections.
Mahama’s return to power, according to Akufo-Addo, would undo the advancements his administration had made, especially in the field of education.
President Akufo-Addo stated that he was concerned about Mahama’s credibility because of the record of his previous administration, which he feels was tainted by subpar performance and broken promises.
In the forthcoming elections on December 7, 2024, he urged Ghanaians to support Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the party’s flagbearer, and place their faith in the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He urged Ghanaians to support the NPP and elect Dr. Bawumia to the presidency, stressing that,a “vote for Bawumia and the NPP’s parliamentary candidates in the nine constituencies in the Oti Region will be a vote for continuity, growth and a brighter future for Ghana.”
