Jefferson Sackey, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary candidate in the Ablekuma Central Constituency, has urged for composure and harmony throughout the special voting process and the general elections scheduled for December 7.
His appeal comes in the wake of violent events that tragically claimed one life during the constituency’s 2020 elections. As of the most recent update, 140 of the 856 registered voters had cast their ballots as part of the ongoing special voting exercise.
Sackey stressed the significance of preserving a violence-free election environment while urging all voters to engage in the voting process sensibly and peacefully in an interview with the media.
“It is just a decision to take by the youth. There is no need to fight or be aggressive when somebody is voting. It is an expression of an opinion that this is the person we want to lead Ghana at this point. This is the person to lead Ablekuma Central Constituency.
“You go to the polls, cast your vote and go home. You come later to the polling station to see the counting process and at the end of the day, the EC will make a declaration on who the next president is and who the various members of Parliament are going to be in the respective constituencies.
“So, my advice to the youth is that this is a very simple process. There is no need to fight, we should all work as one people ensuring that 2024 is successful and smooth,” he stated.
