After a remarkable nine-year tenure, Joe Nana Adarkwa has bid farewell to his role as head coach of Ampem Darkoa Ladies, citing the need for a sabbatical.
During his time at the helm, Adarkwa led the team to numerous successes, including two Women’s Premier League titles in 2022 and 2023, as well as a Women’s FA Cup win.
One of the highlights of his tenure was guiding the team to gold at the WAFU Women’s Champions League and a impressive 4th place finish in the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League Cote D’Ivoire.
In a heartfelt farewell letter, Adarkwa expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the team, saying, “As we part ways, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for the opportunity to coach and mentor each of you.”
He praised the team’s dedication, passion, and perseverance, stating, “You’ve not only grown as athletes, but also as individuals, and I have no doubt that you’ll carry the lessons and values we’ve shared onto future endeavors.”
Adarkwa concluded his letter by thanking the team for an “unforgettable journey” and assured them that he would be “cheering for each of you every step of the way.”
While he has not announced his next move, Adarkwa will now focus on his role as coach of the national U-17 team, the Black Maidens, who recently won the WAFU B U-17 Girls’ Cup under his guidance.
A decision on his next chapter is expected to be made soon.
