President-elect John Dramani Mahama has successfully concluded a diplomatic tour of three African nations, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea Bissau, and Gabon, aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and cooperation with Ghana’s sub-Saharan neighbors.
Mr. Mahama’s visit underscores his commitment to fostering strong relationships with neighboring countries, which he believes is crucial for shared progress and socio-economic development in Ghana.
“I just wrapped up an incredible visit with the Presidents of Equatorial Guinea, Guinea Bissau, and Gabon as part of my commitment to fostering strong relationships with our geographical neighbours and friends in West Africa and on the continent,” Mahama stated on his Facebook wall.
His discussions with the leaders of these nations reaffirmed their shared values and aspirations for progress across the continent, with a focus on exploring opportunities for collaboration in trade, security, and sustainable development.
Mahama emphasized the importance of ensuring that these partnerships benefit not only the nations involved but also the people they serve.
He expressed his commitment to working “both within and outside our subregion towards a brighter, more prosperous future for our youth and the vulnerable”.
This diplomatic effort demonstrates Mahama’s proactive approach to governance, even before his inauguration, and highlights Ghana’s strategic position in the West African sub-region.
