The Member of Parliament for Korle Klottey, Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, has urged members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to remain humble and avoid arrogance following their victory in the December 7 elections.
Speaking at the party’s 43rd celebration of the December 31st Revolution in Accra today, Dr. Zanetor emphasized the importance of humility and integrity.
“We must not allow arrogance, pride, and hubris to fill our hearts because of this victory, as that will be the beginning of our downfall,” she warned. Dr. Zanetor, daughter of the late founder of the NDC, Jerry John Rawlings, reminded party members that the revolution played a crucial role in Ghana’s democracy and that they must take actions to maintain the good image of the party.
The MP advised party members to uphold the principles on which the revolution was founded, which gave birth to the Fourth Republic. “We must maintain humility, we must maintain integrity, and we must uphold the principles on which the revolution was founded, which finally gave birth to this Fourth Republic that we are now striving to restore,” she said.
Dr. Zanetor acknowledged the significance of her father’s legacy in shaping Ghana’s history. “My dear comrades, if the foundation on which this Fourth Republic was built was not strong enough, believe me, Ghana would have descended into chaos by now,” she said. She urged members of the incoming government to uphold and maintain this legacy.
The NDC’s landslide victory in the December 7 elections has set the stage for the party to take over government on January 7, 2025. As the party prepares for this new chapter, Dr. Zanetor’s message serves as a reminder of the importance of humility and integrity in leadership.
The MP’s call to action is timely, urging party members to stay true to the principles of the revolution. “We have a legacy that we can hold on to, and it is something that we must return to,” she said. This legacy is not just a reminder of the past but a guiding force for the future.
As the NDC embarks on this new chapter, her words serve as a guiding force, urging party members to stay grounded and focused on the principles that have guided them thus far.
With the NDC set to take over government, Dr. Zanetor’s message is one of hope and optimism. Despite the challenges that lie ahead, she is confident that the party can make a positive impact on Ghana’s future by upholding the principles of the revolution and staying true to their values.
