The Ghana Education Service (GES) has confirmed that the reopening of Senior High Schools will proceed as scheduled, despite a request by the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) to postpone the reopening due to financial constraints.
In a statement issued on Thursday, January 2, the GES reiterated that the 2024/25 academic calendar will proceed as previously announced, with Senior High School students expected to return to school on January 3, 2025, and primary and Junior High Schools resuming classes on January 8, 2025.
The GES acknowledged the concerns raised by CHASS and assured that it is working closely with the Ministry of Education to address the issues and ensure a smooth commencement of the academic year.
The service urged all stakeholders, including students, staff, parents, and the general public, to take note of the scheduled reopening dates and make necessary arrangements to prepare for the start of the new academic year.
The GES emphasized the importance of adhering to the schedule to ensure a successful reopening of schools across the country.
