The Minority caucus in Parliament today strongly objected to Speaker Alban Bagbin’s reference to them as a “micro-minority.”
Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin led the protest, expressing the caucus’s dissatisfaction with the label during a parliamentary session.
“We do not have any micro minority,” Afenyo-Markin stated. “The minority caucus hereby protests the description given to us by Mr. Speaker.”
Afenyo-Markin reminded the Speaker that the Minority caucus had supported his election, despite opposition from the Majority.
“We seconded the motion for your election,” he noted. “When the so-called majority was even conspiring against you, we protested. We stopped them from that conspiracy.”
The Minority Leader insisted that the term “micro minority” was unacceptable and urged the Speaker to address them as “minority semplicità.”
