President John Dramani Mahama has cautioned his supporters to refrain from engaging in illegal activities, such as looting and occupying government offices.
Speaking at the National Muslim Prayer and Thanksgiving at the National Mosque in Accra, President Mahama emphasized the need for his supporters to conduct themselves in an orderly manner.
“We must do things differently to maintain the trust and confidence Ghanaians have placed in us,” he said.
The President reminded Ghanaians that the conclusion of elections marks the beginning of a greater shared responsibility, urging citizens to work together towards their shared vision, development, and prosperity for Ghana.
He also cautioned his supporters against repeating the mistakes of the past, referencing the actions of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2017.
President Mahama assured Ghanaians that his government is working swiftly to establish its administration, promising to appoint a full cabinet within 14 days.
The President concluded by reminding the nation of the strength found in unity and diversity.
“Our diversity as a people is not a weakness, indeed it is our strength,” he said.
