President John Dramani Mahama has directed the Attorney General-designate, Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, to prioritize determining fair compensation for families of those who lost their lives during the 2020 and 2024 general elections.
Speaking at the National Muslim Prayer and Thanksgiving service in Accra, President Mahama emphasized the need for swift action to be taken to compensate the affected families.
“We would also ask the Attorney General, when he takes office, to determine a fair and adequate compensation for the families of those who have lost their lives,” President Mahama said.
The President also reiterated his directive to the Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, to ensure thorough investigations into the killings and prosecute those responsible.
Dr. Ayine is scheduled to appear before the Appointments Committee for vetting on January 13, 2025.
