Hon. Dzifa Abla Gomashie, the Minister Designate for Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, has pledged to conduct a thorough review of the Creative Arts Agency’s operations if approved as minister.
Speaking during her vetting by the Appointments Committee on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, Gomashie expressed concerns over the agency’s current trajectory.
She noted that the agency was initially intended to be a “multi-purpose vehicle” rather than a standalone agency.
“The Creative Arts Agency that has been formed, my understanding before we left office was that it was a multi-purpose vehicle, not an agency. But I see that now it is an agency,” she stated.
The minister plans to take a critical look at the agency’s functions and determine how to make it work effectively with the National Commission on Culture and the ministry as a whole.
She believes a restructured Creative Arts Agency will be instrumental in unlocking the country’s tourism potential.
