The Minority in Parliament is strongly opposing the approval of Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah as the Minister-Designate for Lands and Natural Resources, citing his refusal to retract or apologize for comments he made regarding former President Akufo-Addo’s final State of the Nation Address on January 3, 2025.
During his vetting, Buah acknowledged that his remarks were perceived as harsh, but clarified that they weren’t intended to offend the former President.
“My comments were directed at his government, reflecting the views of the Ghanaian people who felt they had gone through significant hardships,” he explained.
Despite the Minority’s strong opposition, the Appointments Committee has recommended Buah’s approval by a majority decision.
This sets the stage for further parliamentary debate, with the Minority voicing concerns over Buah’s stance and the Majority pushing for his confirmation.
