President John Dramani Mahama has appointed an eight-member committee to organize the National Education Forum, fulfilling his campaign promise to advance Ghana’s education sector.
During his 2024 election campaign, President Mahama pledged to host a national forum to gather public input on improving the education sector, particularly the Free SHS policy.
The committee, chaired by Professor George K. T. Oduro, former Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, has been tasked with submitting its report and plan within two weeks.
The committee members include Professor Goski Alabi, Professor Rosemary Bosu, Samuel Awuku, Ph.D., Professor Smile Dzisi, Kofi Asare, Stephen Owusu, and Inusah Shiraz.
Their Terms of Reference outline key objectives, such as developing a guiding theme, identifying stakeholders, proposing an agenda, selecting a venue and date, setting up a secretariat, and preparing a budget.
Additionally, the committee will compile a comprehensive report detailing the forum’s findings and recommendations.
A draft national education policy framework and an action plan for implementing reforms are expected within three weeks of the forum’s conclusion.
