In a continent where women are often underrepresented in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields, the African Science Academy (ASA) is leading the charge to bridge the gap.
Founded by the African Gifted Foundation, ASA is a girls-only advanced level school that provides world-class education, mentorship, and hands-on experience in STEM disciplines. Since its inception in 2016, the academy has educated over 150 brilliant young women from across Africa, with many going on to study at leading universities worldwide on full scholarships.
The academy’s curriculum is designed to foster a deep understanding of STEM principles, as well as critical thinking, problem-solving, and leadership skills. Students engage in hands-on projects, collaborate with peers, and participate in guest speaker sessions, community service, and club activities.
ASA’s admissions process is highly competitive, with eligibility requirements that include excellent predicted grades in Maths and Physics, fluency in English, and a passion for learning. The current intake is 50 students per cohort, and ASA is now accepting applications for the 2025/2026 academic year.
“We’re not just educating students, we’re empowering them to become agents of change,” said ASA’s Director. “Our students are the future leaders of Africa, and we’re committed to giving them the skills, knowledge, and confidence they need to succeed.”
The African Science Academy is a shining example of what can be achieved when we invest in the education and empowerment of young women. With ASA leading the way, the future of Africa looks brighter than ever.
Applications for the 2025/2026 academic year are now open. Visit the African Science Academy’s website at www.africanscienceacademy.org/how-to-apply for more information on admissions and student recruitment.
