Edward Ekow Obeng-Kenzo has been appointed as the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Volta River Authority (VRA).
A handover ceremony was held on February 5, where outgoing CEO Emmanuel Antwi Darkwa officially transferred leadership to Obeng-Kenzo.
Obeng-Kenzo’s appointment is under the directive of the government, as the VRA board is yet to be constituted. He will serve in an acting capacity until a formal decision is made by the incoming board.
As the new Acting CEO, Obeng-Kenzo will steer the organization toward its mission of providing reliable and sustainable energy solutions for Ghana.
His official confirmation as substantive CEO will depend on the yet-to-be-formed board’s decision.
Obeng-Kenzo brings 24 years of experience in the power sector to his new role. He holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. He is also a member of the Ghana Institution of Engineering.
Prior to his appointment, Obeng-Kenzo served as the Director of Thermal Generation SBU and held various other leadership positions within the VRA.
His key responsibilities will include providing strategic direction and leadership to various departments within the organization.
