
President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his commitment to improving Ghana’s Free Senior High School (Free SHS) program, emphasizing education as one of his top priorities.
During his ‘Thank You Tour’ of the Central Region, Mr. Mahama outlined plans to strengthen the program by securing dedicated funding and decentralizing food procurement for more efficient operations.
“Education will remain a priority, and we will work to provide the best possible learning environment for our children at all levels,” Mr. Mahama stated.
“And ensure that our youth have the skills needed to compete in the global economy. We plan to improve the Free SHS programme to secure dedicated funding and decentralised food procurement.”
Mr. Mahama also announced the introduction of a “no academic fees” policy to provide financial aid for continuing students and a commitment to expanding infrastructure for tertiary institutions.
