The Chiefs and people of Anloland have petitioned Speaker of Parliament Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin to identify the Member of Parliament who made disparaging remarks about Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings.
During a Parliamentary debate on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, the MP in question called Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings “Shut up—you daughter of a murderer”. The Anlo Dukor Council deemed this remark “blasphemous and defamatory”.
The council expressed deep displeasure over the incident, emphasizing the gravity of the insult. Zanetor Agyeman Rawlings, the eldest daughter of former President Jerry John Rawlings, is a respected figure within the Anlo community.
Two MPs, Samuel Abu Jinapor and Nana Kwame Asafo-Adjei, were initially suspected of making the remark but have since denied it. The council has called for the identification of the responsible MP by February 10, 2025.
The Chiefs of Anloland insist that such behavior in Parliament must not go unaddressed, given the historical and cultural significance of the Rawlings family to the Anlo people.
