The Minority in Parliament has announced its decision to boycott the Special Committee tasked with investigating the chaos that disrupted the ministerial vetting process on January 30, 2025.
This decision stems from concerns over the alleged prejudicial conduct of the committee’s chairman, Emmanuel Bedzrah, Member of Parliament for Ho West.
“We have written to Mr. Speaker, we know he is not available, but we will respect the office and authority of the Speaker, so we will await him to give a ruling on our letter,” the minority stated.
They emphasized that they will not participate in a “one-sided committee” due to the chairman’s perceived bias.
“Meanwhile, if the chairman still wants to proceed, we will not be part of a one-sided committee. Our members have withdrawn from proceedings because the chairman is prejudiced. He is prejudging the issue, and he is not a fair referee.”
Despite this, the committee has resumed its investigation into the chaos that occurred on the night of January 30, 2025.
The committee is conducting a public hearing on the incident and is expected to present its findings to the Speaker of Parliament within 10 days.
