Ghana’s Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has announced that officials of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) will no longer be allowed to travel in first class.
This directive is in line with President John Dramani Mahama’s decision to bar government appointees from traveling in first class.
In an interview with Luv FM, Adams emphasized that the President’s directive is a clear indication of his mindset towards responsible governance, and everyone, including the GFA, must adopt the same mindset.
“This should tell you that this is the mindset of the president, and every other person must develop the same mindset, including the GFA,” he said.
Adams pointed out that the GFA cannot operate in isolation when the President’s objectives and direction are clear. “The GFA cannot live in a different world when the president’s objectives and direction are clear,” he added.
The Minister believes that the GFA officials will understand and cooperate with this directive once they are made aware of it.
“We will sit with them to have that understanding, and I believe they will not kick against any such proposition,” he said.
The move is part of the government’s efforts to promote transparency and accountability in the management of the country’s sports organizations.
By adopting the same mindset as the President, the GFA officials will be demonstrating their commitment to responsible governance and transparency.
