President John Dramani Mahama has pledged to reverse Ghana’s economic fortunes, ensuring the country is back on track by the end of his four-year term.
In his first State of the Nation Address, Mahama candidly acknowledged the nation’s struggles, describing the state of the nation as “not good.”
He further stated, “Our economy is in crisis, and the people of Ghana are suffering unprecedented hardships.”
Undeterred, Mahama expressed confidence in his ability to turn things around, drawing on past successes. “I John Dramanai Mhaam will fix the economic crisis confronting our country and reset it on a path of growth and prosperity,” he declared.
He cited his effective handling of Ghana’s energy crisis, which had previously plagued the nation, saying “I promised to fix ‘dumsor,’ and I fixed it. There was no power rationing or load management in Ghana.”
Mahama’s address emphasized his commitment to implementing policies that will stabilize the economy and drive national progress.
With a focus on finding solutions rather than assigning blame, Mahama reaffirmed his dedication to restoring Ghana’s economic prosperity, stating “It is not my style to lament and shift blame. I am therefore not here to lament, even though there is much to lament about.”
