President John Dramani Mahama’s official X account has been restored after a cybersecurity breach compromised the platform on March 16.
The hack led to unauthorized promotions of a cryptocurrency scam, Solana Africa, which falsely claimed to be affiliated with the President. The scam promised to facilitate free payments across Africa using the Solana blockchain.
President Mahama confirmed the restoration of his account in a statement, expressing gratitude for the support received during the incident. “My team, working closely with X support, has successfully regained control of my account,” he said.
The Cyber Security Authority (CSA) had earlier assured the public of its collaboration with X and other stakeholders to address the issue and prevent future occurrences.
The incident has raised concerns about the vulnerability of high-profile social media accounts to cyber threats.
