A dramatic scene unfolded at Kotoka International Airport on Thursday, March 20, 2025, as Kwabena Adu Boahene, former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau, was taken into custody by officials from the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
According to Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, Adu Boahene’s arrest was an act of political persecution, stating, “such actions set a dangerous precedent and undermine the democratic principles of justice and fairness.”
Details of the arrest indicate that Adu Boahene was initially stopped by immigration authorities, who claimed there was an issue with his name.
He was then escorted to the Immigration office, where EOCO officials were waiting to take him into custody. Deputy Director of EOCO, Raymond Archer, was reportedly present during the arrest.
Afenyo-Markin condemned the arrest, saying, “He was pushed into a white Nissan Navara pickup with registration number GN 8850-22, accompanied by fully armed men. Another Navara pickup and a white Toyota Corolla also escorted him. At about 9:47 PM, he was whisked away to an unknown location.”
