The Government of Ghana has announced that Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1, 2025, will be public holidays in celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr. This decision was made to enable citizens to fully participate in the festivities marking the end of Ramadan.
According to the Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak (MP), the public holidays will provide an opportunity for Muslims to come together with family and friends to pray, feast, and engage in community activities.
The declaration of the public holidays is in accordance with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act (Act 601), which empowers the President to declare public holidays.
Eid-ul-Fitr, which falls on Sunday, March 30, 2025, is a significant Islamic holiday that marks the end of a month-long period of fasting and spiritual reflection. The holiday is a time for Muslims to reflect on their faith, seek forgiveness, and strengthen their bonds with family and community.
