Ghana’s Attorney General, Dr. Dominic Ayine, has blown the lid off a staggering array of properties and assets amassed by Mr. Kwabena Adu-Boahene, the former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), and his wife Angela Adjei-Boateng.
The astonishing portfolio, suspected to have been funded by dubious means, spans Ghana and beyond. According to Dr. Ayine, the investigation has uncovered a paper trail of deposits and receipts linking Adu-Boahene to these assets.
In Accra’s upscale Mayfair Estates, Adu-Boahene allegedly acquired six properties, with deposits ranging from $97,815 to a whopping $1,000,000. The properties include:
– No. 2 Stream Part Drive, Mayfair Estates, LA, Accra ($1,000,000 deposit)
– No. 6 Edith Avenue, Mayfair Estates, LA, Accra ($500,000 deposit)
– No. 7 Edith Avenue, Mayfair Estates, LA ($200,000 deposit)
– No. 8 Edith Avenue, Mayfair Estates, LA ($97,815 deposit)
– No. 9 Edith Avenue, Mayfair Estates, LA, Accra ($270,000 deposit)
– No. 10 Edith Avenue, Mayfair Estates, LA, Accra ($150,000 deposit)
Furthermore, Adu-Boahene is linked to Vertex Properties, a company that owns 27 houses in Oyarifa, each valued at $295,000. Investigators have also uncovered two properties in London, although details remain scarce.
Dr. Ayine emphasized that the sheer scale of Adu-Boahene’s acquisitions suggests a clear correlation with his alleged misconduct during his tenure as NSB Director.
“The proceeds from the suspects’ activities were used to buy significant landed properties and other assets of considerable value both in Ghana and elsewhere,” he noted.
As the investigation continues, authorities aim to recover misappropriated funds and hold Adu-Boahene accountable for any financial malpractices.
