Ghana’s Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, has unveiled shocking details of corruption within the National Service Scheme (NSS), including allegations of bribery and embezzlement.
Dr. Ayine revealed that the former Director-General of the National Service Authority (NSA), Osei Assibey Antwi, was implicated in a scandalous plot to silence the media and conceal the truth about ghost names within the NSS.
According to Dr. Ayine, “With the National Service Scandal, eight suspects have been interrogated and a good number of them have started singing. We now have evidence of payments that were made into the accounts of the top executives of the National Service by private vendors of the scheme.”
In a stunning admission, Dr. Ayine disclosed that the investigation had uncovered evidence of a bribe paid to a Ghanaian Member of Parliament (MP) to suppress media coverage of the scandal.
“We also have evidence that in November 2024, the CEO of the NSS and others paid a Ghanaian Member of Parliament to kill the story in the media and to defend them,” he stated.
Dr. Ayine assured the public that the investigation was nearing its conclusion and that prosecutions would soon follow.
“Because these matters are still under investigation, I can confirm that the investigation will conclude in the National Service and the Sky Train Scandal by the middle of April for the prosecution to begin.”
