
President John Dramani Mahama has inaugurated a new team of experts to oversee the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF). The newly appointed members of the Armed Forces Council were sworn in on Monday, March 24.
The council, which is mandated to provide strategic guidance and administrative oversight to the GAF, comprises eight distinguished individuals with diverse backgrounds in governance, security, and public administration.
Chaired by Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the council members include Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Mubarak Mohammed Muntaka, Daniel Addo, Fuseini Iddrisu, and Nancy Dakwa Ampofo. Together, they bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the council.
The Armed Forces Council plays a vital role in ensuring the military’s effectiveness, adherence to democratic principles, and accountability to the civilian government.
The council advises the President on matters related to national defense and oversees the welfare and discipline of military personnel.
