Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the former Vice President, has shown his commitment to supporting local traders after a devastating fire swept through the Adum market in Kumasi.
On Tuesday, March 25, he visited the scene, where he announced a donation of GH¢200,000 and 1,000 bags of cement to aid in the rebuilding efforts.
The fire, which occurred on Friday, March 24, destroyed millions of Ghana cedis’ worth of goods, leaving many traders without a livelihood.
Dr. Bawumia expressed his sympathies to those affected, saying, “I am donating GH¢200,000 and 1,000 bags to the victims, and I urge private individuals to also support the traders in getting their livelihoods back.”
Dr. Bawumia’s visit and donation serve as a beacon of hope for the affected traders, who are now faced with the daunting task of rebuilding their businesses.
His call to action has also sparked a sense of community, with many individuals and organizations expected to follow his lead and offer support to those in need.
