The Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) has put an end to its nationwide strike, which started on February 20. The decision comes after the National Executive Council (NEC) held an emergency meeting on March 28, 2025.
According to a statement, CLOGSAG is suspending the strike to allow for further negotiations to resolve the outstanding issues. The association is urging its members to return to work on April 2, 2025.
The strike was initially sparked by the controversial appointment of Samuel Adom Botchway as the Births and Deaths Registrar. CLOGSAG had demanded that the position be filled by a civil servant, citing concerns over Botchway’s alleged ties to the ruling party.
With the strike now suspended, CLOGSAG is expected to continue pushing for its demands to be met. The outcome of the negotiations will be closely watched by the public sector and beyond.
