Ghana’s Parliament has passed the 2025 Appropriation Bill, paving the way for the government to allocate GHC293 billion for various public expenditures in the upcoming financial year. This massive budget will cover a wide range of expenses, including wages, salaries, and debt payments.
A substantial portion of the budget, GHC68 billion, has been earmarked for wages and salaries, ensuring that public sector workers receive their due compensation.
Additionally, GHC13 billion has been set aside to settle outstanding arrears, providing relief to individuals and businesses awaiting payment.
The passage of the bill was formally announced by First Deputy Speaker Bernard Ahiafor, who declared, “The Appropriation 2025 is now read the third time and accordingly passed.”
This milestone marks a crucial step in Ghana’s budgetary process, outlining the government’s spending priorities for the year ahead.
