
A thorough investigation is underway by the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) into an alleged assault on three civilians by seven military personnel in Kumasi.
The incident, which occurred on Friday, March 28, 2025, has sparked concerns about the use of excessive force by military personnel.
According to reports, the three officers and four soldiers allegedly arrested and attacked the individuals over a stolen mobile phone.
The civilians reportedly suffered varying degrees of injuries, prompting the Military Police to launch a joint investigation with the Ashanti Regional Police CID.
The GAF has taken swift action, placing the accused military personnel under closed arrest while investigations proceed. The Military High Command has assured the public that any individuals found guilty will face disciplinary action.
In a statement, Brigadier General E. Aggrey-Quashie, Director General of Public Relations for the GAF, urged the families and friends of the victims to remain calm and await the outcome of the investigations. The GAF’s prompt response aims to ensure transparency and accountability in the investigation process.
