Popular journalist Gordon Asare-Bediako of Wontumi TV has been granted bail following his detention by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
Asare-Bediako was reportedly detained on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, under unclear circumstances, sparking widespread reactions.
Reports suggest his arrest was linked to allegations he made against the Special Prosecutor. Asare Bediako claimed that the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, demanded a private jet from the erstwhile Akufo-Addo administration for his private use.
His detention prompted an outpouring of support from fellow journalists, who took to social media to demand his immediate release, raising concerns about press freedom and the treatment of media professionals.
He was granted bail set at five million Ghana cedis with sureties by the OSP.
The case continues to attract public attention as Ghanaians await further clarification from the OSP regarding the circumstances of his arrest and any potential charges.
