A 27-year-old Senior High School (SHS) graduate, Kweku Twia, has been arrested by the Twifo Atti Morkwa District Police Command for allegedly murdering a 75-year-old spiritual healer and injuring three others in Twifo Kwame Alerk, located in the Hemang-Lower-Denkyira District of the Central Region.
According to eyewitness accounts, the incident stemmed from a heated misunderstanding between Twia and his father. The altercation quickly escalated into violence, leading Twia to allegedly attack his father with a machete, inflicting severe injuries on his neck, hands, and stomach.
After the attack on his father, the suspect reportedly moved through the community, where he encountered Ante Amataa, a well-known spiritual healer. He allegedly struck her multiple times with the machete, causing fatal wounds and resulting in her death.
Following this gruesome act, Twia fled into the nearby bush but later resurfaced, continuing his violent spree by attacking and injuring two more individuals.
The series of violent events left the community in shock and fear, prompting an urgent public announcement that led to Twia’s swift arrest by officers of the Twifo Atti Morkwa District Police Command.
In response to the tragic events, Nana Kojo Damptey, the Linguist of Twifo Kwame Alerk, speculated that Twia’s actions might have been influenced by substance abuse, citing his usually calm demeanor as uncharacteristic of such violent behavior.
The body of the deceased spiritual healer has been transferred to the Twifo Praso Government Hospital morgue, while the three injured victims are currently receiving medical treatment at the same hospital.
Authorities have launched a full investigation into the incident to determine the motive behind Twia’s actions and to ensure justice is served.
