Ghana’s senior national football team, the Black Stars, have moved up one place to 76th in the latest FIFA Coca-Cola World Rankings.
The team’s improvement in the rankings comes after a strong showing in the March international break, where they recorded emphatic victories in their World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar.
According to the rankings, the Black Stars scored eight goals and kept two clean sheets in their qualifying matches, solidifying their position at the top of Group I. However, on the African stage, Ghana remains in 14th place.
Morocco leads the African rankings, holding the 12th spot globally, followed by Senegal, Egypt, Algeria, and Ivory Coast. Argentina maintains its number one position globally, followed by Spain, France, England, and Brazil, who complete the top five.
The Black Stars will return to action in June for the Unity Cup, a preparatory tournament ahead of the resumption of World Cup qualifiers in September.
The team’s current form and strong standing in their qualifying group have raised hopes among fans that the Black Stars will maintain their momentum and push for a place at the next World Cup.
