Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has stepped forward to address concerns surrounding the health of Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang.
Speaking to Ghanaians in Lagos, Nigeria, on Sunday, Ablakwa assured the public that the Vice President is recovering well and is expected to resume her duties soon.
The Vice President had been receiving medical attention abroad after falling ill following her official duties on March 28, 2025. Initial treatment was administered at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC). However, rumors about her passing began circulating, prompting Ablakwa’s intervention.
According to Ablakwa, the Vice President’s recovery can be attributed to the prayers of Ghanaians both at home and abroad.
“Your prayers worked, your prayers from all of us, Ghanaians at home and abroad, have really worked,” he stated.
Ablakwa urged the public to disregard the “vicious and unGhanaian evil propaganda” surrounding the Vice President’s health.
He expressed confidence in her ability to inspire young girls and women across the nation, saying, “Please ignore all of that very vicious and unGhanaian evil propaganda that some people are speculating. Our mother is doing very, very well, and very soon she is going to return to her duties, serving Ghana, making all of you proud and particularly inspiring our young girls, our daughters, to know that there is nothing our women cannot achieve—that women are as good as men and that what men can do, women can also do and do it better.”
The Minister’s comment aims to put an end to the speculation and reassure Ghanaians that their Vice President is on the road to recovery.
