The Auditor-General has initiated a comprehensive nationwide payroll audit, targeting all entities on the Controller and Accountant-General’s payroll system, including subvented organizations.
The audit will examine the payroll records of Ministries, Departments, Agencies (MDAs), and subvented bodies for the period spanning January 1, 2023, to December 31, 2024.
The audit will involve a full headcount of all government-paid staff and will require institutions to grant auditors full and unrestricted access to all relevant records, including computerized and electronic documents.
The Office of the Auditor-General has urged all affected institutions to cooperate fully with the audit team to ensure its smooth completion within schedule.
The audit aims to improve transparency and accountability in government payroll systems. The exercise is expected to identify any irregularities or inefficiencies in payroll management, and its findings could inform future policy decisions or reforms.
The audit will cover all Ministries, Departments, Agencies (MDAs), and subvented bodies on the Controller and Accountant-General’s payroll system.
The institutions are expected to provide unhindered access to books, returns, and other documents, including computerized and electronic records, to facilitate the audit process.
