Minister for Employment, Jobs, and Labour Relations, Dr. Rashid Pelpuo, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to reducing youth unemployment by creating job opportunities both locally and internationally.
Speaking on The Point of View on Channel One TV, Dr. Rashid Pelpuo emphasized the importance of equipping young Ghanaians to find employment regardless of location.
“This term is to reflect the promises we made to the youth, to get them to understand that it’s possible to get them jobs,” he said. “If it’s not in Ghana, it can be somewhere else. So, we’re creating that circumstance of job creation.”
Rashid Pelpuo revealed ongoing discussions with foreign governments interested in Ghanaian labor, aiming to create a condition of labor transfer.
“I’m also having discussions with governments who are outside Ghana, who are interested in migrating labor from Ghana,” he stated.
To support this agenda, Pelpuo recently launched the “Ghana World Abroad” programme, aimed at facilitating employment for Ghanaian youth overseas while easing local unemployment pressures.
Pelpuo is working closely with various ministries and agencies to ensure job availability for young people. “I’m linking up with various ministries and agencies to make sure that if jobs are available in their places, they should be up for young people,” he said.
The minister aims to build confidence in young Ghanaians, saying, “So, we’re creating that circumstance of job creation. I’m building confidence in them to know that they can work both in Ghana and outside Ghana.”
“This is a reflection of our commitment to the youth, to get them to understand that it’s possible to get them jobs” he added.
