Richil Mawuenyega, known as The Third Scribe, officially launched her maiden book, titled, Under the Sword of Solomon, on Tuesday, 8th May 2025, at the Secretariat of the Department of Social Communications in the Catholic Archdiocese of Accra.
The thought-provoking book, which explores themes of resilience, identity, and healing from parental loss, is described by many as a motivational tool for both the young and old.
Perpetual Opata, a mental health advocate and educationist, who reviewed the book, described it as more than just a story.
She said, “Even though the book reads like a story, it’s highly motivational. It puts you in a place where, after experiencing tragedy, you ask yourself: do I remain stuck, or do I rise? It teaches resilience, even at an early age.
She further highlighted the final chapter, which introduces the “3 Ps”; I’m Power, I’m Peace, and I’m Praise, explaining that these are not just words but powerful identities.
Under the Sword of Solomon is centered on life after tragedy, particularly coping with the loss of parents, she added.
Perpetual Opata also emphasized its universal value, noting, “Even though the author says it’s a book for children, I believe it’s for everyone, churches, schools, libraries, parents, and guardians. Adults, too, can learn how to better nurture the young ones by reading it.”
The book was officially launched by an award-winning public speaker and corporate trainer, Paa Kwesi Forson, who praised the author’s visionary work.
“This book doesn’t only present spiritual lessons, and it also places them within an African context. It is not just here to save lives, but to save the future of children,” he said.
“She’s helping readers discover their purpose. Once you find your ‘why’, success can never say goodbye”, he added.
Paa Kwesi Forson also stressed that many children today suffer not from a lack of confidence but from identity crises.
He stated, “Fix their identity, and confidence will follow. Identity is the foundation of destiny.”
In her engagement with the audience, Richil Mawuenyega, author of Under the Sword of Solomon, explained the inspiration behind her chosen pen name- The Third Scribe.
According to her, it represents her connection to the Holy Trinity, particularly the Holy Spirit as her guide and comforter.
“What inspired me to write this book was an invitation to speak at an orphanage. Being African, I placed myself in the shoes of the African orphan,” she shared.
She said the “3 Ps” featured in the final chapter reflects her own upbringing, where her parents instilled the power of positive declarations.
She said, “I believe in the positivity of words and how they can transform lives.”
On the challenges of writing the book, she admitted, “At a point, I forgot I was a writer. I had to think deeply about the critics, the needs to be met, and the authenticity of what I wanted to publish.”
She urged others not to delay their dreams, encouraging them to “Avoid procrastination. If you have something in mind to do, start. If you don’t know how, seek help.”
“I recommend this book not because I wrote it, but because there is a powerful message in it for everyone. And whatever life throws at you, never leave God out of the picture”, she added.
Looking ahead, Richil has promised to remain consistent in her writing journey. She has also revealed plans for future works, including one that has been on her heart since her time in the university, which is The “Dear Boys” Series, aimed at addressing concerns of young males in society.
