
A horrific incident has shaken Nweneso Number Two, a farming community in the Atwima Kwanwoma District of the Ashanti Region, where an 18-year-old girl was brutally murdered, sustaining severe head injuries allegedly inflicted with a cutlass.
The victim, identified as Ruth Afia, was attacked on April 12, 2025, at around 1:00 p.m., while the community was attending a funeral. Her tragic death has sparked fear and tension among residents.
According to the Assembly Member for Nweneso Number Two, Hon. Freduah Agyemang, the exact circumstances surrounding the murder remain unclear. However, the community has identified a suspect who was reportedly seen smoking in front of the house when the deceased’s brother, Henry Acheampong, stepped outside.
Hon. Agyemang stated that the incident has created widespread panic and called on the security agencies to act swiftly.
“I’m appealing to the police and other security agencies to help find those involved in this crime. Citizens should also come forward with credible information. We are deeply saddened—this is the first time our community has witnessed such a horrifying incident,” he said.
The police have launched a full investigation into the case. The general public is encouraged to assist by providing any information that could help bring the perpetrator(s) to justice.
The community remains in shock, with residents expressing sorrow and outrage over the brutal loss of a young life. Authorities are working diligently to apprehend those responsible and restore peace to the area.
