Minister of Sports and Recreation Kofi Adams has dismissed demands for the immediate release of the budget allocated to the Black Stars for their upcoming matches against Chad and Madagascar.
The Minister explained that the current budget remains a working draft and releasing it prematurely could lead to unnecessary speculation.
In an interview with Citi TV, Kofi Adams said, “You will know it when the time comes. I’m saying that I will make it public. Has the National Team ceased playing? We have the next assignment in September; we have matches that we’re going to play. And we will surely make it public.”
Adams emphasized that releasing a draft budget would be unfair, stating, “It will be unfair to make a draft budget public, I’m not hiding it.”
He assured Ghanaians that full disclosure will be made once all national team activities are completed.
The minister also guaranteed that there will be no delay in the budget presentation for the Black Stars’ upcoming fixtures.
“There’s no way I’m going to allow the Ghana Football Association to delay in presentation of a budget for the September round of matches,” he affirmed.
Adams’ stance has sparked debate about transparency and accountability in the sports sector. However, the minister remains committed to disclosing the budget details at the appropriate time.
