The Asogli State Council has destooled Togbe Afiatsoa III, Mankrado of Ho Bankoe, citing persistent misconduct and insubordination.
The decision was formally announced on April 17, 2025, at the Asogli State Palace in Ho, Volta Region, where traditional rites were performed to signify the destoolment.
According to Stephen Tetteh, Secretary of the Asogli State Council, the destoolment followed exhaustive consultations and a unanimous agreement by the Elders, Chiefs, and Kingmakers. Tetteh stated that Togbe Afiatsoa III had exhibited gross disregard for Traditional Authority and deliberately denigrated the revered Agbogbome Stool.
“Over an extended period, he has exhibited gross disregard for Traditional Authority, deliberately denigrated the revered Agbogbome Stool and persistently brought the name of Asogli into disrepute,” Tetteh said. “Henceforth, he ceases to be recognised in any capacity whatsoever as Mankrado of Ho Bankoe.”
The Council expressed disappointment in Togbe Afiatsoa III’s actions, saying attempts to reform him were unsuccessful. Instead, he resorted to spreading falsehoods on social media and other public platforms.
“Sadly, he chose to spurn all such opportunities and instead resorted to the reckless use of social media and other public platforms to spread falsehoods, cast aspersions and peddle misinformation aimed at undermining the image, integrity and cohesion of the traditional leadership of both Ho and the larger Asogli State,” Tetteh added.
The traditional rites performed at the Asogli State Palace marked the official end of Togbe Afiatsoa III’s tenure as Mankrado of Ho Bankoe.
