A devastating fire ravaged the Madina Redco Flats late Friday night, leaving a trail of destruction and claiming the life of a young woman.
The fire, which broke out at approximately 11:15 p.m., destroyed over 150 structures, including 140 wooden buildings and 20 metal containers used for both residential and commercial purposes.
Despite the prompt response of firefighters from the Madina Fire Station, supported by backup teams from Adenta, Legon, Abelemkpe, and Headquarters, the blaze had already spread extensively by the time they arrived.
The fire teams managed to confine the flames by 12:02 a.m. and eventually extinguished them by 2:22 a.m.
The victim, identified as Beauty, a Nigerian national in her early twenties, tragically lost her life in the inferno. Her charred remains have been recovered and handed over to the Madina Police for further investigation.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire, while affected residents and business owners are assessing the extent of the damage and counting their losses.
