The Minister of Youth Development and Empowerment, George Opare Addo, has assured Ghanaians that the government is committed to empowering the youth.
Speaking at the launch of the Adwumawura Programme on Monday, April 28, 2025, Mr. Opare Addo expressed pride and humility in being part of a government that prioritizes youth development.
“I stand before you today with immense pride and humility as we embark on a significant journey to reshape the narrative of youth empowerment in our beloved nation,” he said.
The Minister commended President John Dramani Mahama for his vision and commitment to youth empowerment, noting that the Ministry is the first in Ghana’s history dedicated solely to youth development.
Mr. Opare Addo highlighted the government’s commitment to resourcing youth-focused initiatives, citing the allocation of resources to vital programmes in the 2025 budget.
“I would like to take this moment to thank His Excellency, not just for making promises but also for allocating resources to these vital programmes in the 2025 budget,” he stated.
The Adwumawura Programme is part of broader government efforts to address youth unemployment, alongside initiatives like the One Million Codex Programme and the National Apprenticeship Programme.
Mr. Opare Addo urged young people to seize emerging opportunities and actively participate in building Ghana’s future.
“This government is dedicated to fostering an environment that nurtures your growth and development. I urge each one of you to seize the opportunities and actively participate in reshaping your own future and the futures of generations to come,” he emphasized.
The Minister noted that young people are not inherently idle but require the right opportunities to unlock their potential and contribute meaningfully to national development.
