The Ministry of Education, led by Haruna Iddrisu, has introduced a groundbreaking online platform for first-year students in public tertiary institutions to apply for financial assistance under the government’s pioneering No-Fee-Stress policy.
This innovative portal, launched on April 29, 2025, marks a significant milestone in the government’s quest to increase access to higher education in Ghana by alleviating financial burdens on students.
Minister Iddrisu hailed the No-Fee-Stress policy as a “transformative, bold, and visionary initiative” designed to break down financial barriers that hinder many Ghanaian students from pursuing their academic aspirations.
By implementing this policy, the government aims to empower students from diverse backgrounds to access quality education, thereby fostering a more inclusive and equitable educational system.
The Minister emphasized that the policy represents a strategic investment in Ghana’s human capital, recognizing that education is a key driver of national development.
To further support students, the government has also increased the student loan fund to GHC150 million, aiming to provide more comprehensive financial assistance to students in need.
The Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) will play a crucial role in implementing the No-Fee-Stress policy and managing the student loan scheme.
By providing financial support to students, the government hopes to unlock the full potential of its citizens, enabling them to contribute meaningfully to the country’s growth and prosperity.
Through this partnership, the government is confident that it can make a tangible difference in the lives of Ghanaian students, empowering them to achieve their academic goals without the weight of financial stress.
