
President John Dramani Mahama has sounded a warning to corrupt police officers, vowing to eliminate corruption within the Ghana Police Service.
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of the new Inspector General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, President Mahama emphasized the need for transparency and accountability in law enforcement.
“Mr. IGP, your role will also involve rooting out corruption within the service,” he stated.
The President stressed that corruption undermines justice and weakens public confidence in security agencies.
“Corruption in law enforcement undermines justice and weakens public confidence in our security agencies,” he added.
President Mahama charged the new IGP to take decisive action against misconduct, including bribery and abuse of power.
“It is crucial that all forms of unethical behavior, from bribery to the abuse of power, are decisively dealt with,” he said.
The President’s call to action is seen as a significant step in the government’s efforts to strengthen law enforcement institutions and restore public trust in the police service.
