President John Dramani Mahama has sworn in Patience Baffoe-Bonnie as the new Director-General of the Ghana Prisons Service, marking a significant shift in the country’s security sector leadership.
The appointment is part of a broader restructuring effort aimed at enhancing efficiency and strengthening leadership across Ghana’s key security institutions. The overhaul also affects the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) and the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS).
However, the swearing-in ceremonies for Daniella Mawusi Ntow Sarpong, acting Chief Fire Officer of the GNFS, and Samuel Basentale Amadu, acting Comptroller-General of the GIS, have been postponed due to “procedural differences in the appointment processes of the respective services.”
According to President Mahama, the delay is temporary, and the duo will be officially inducted once their service boards are fully constituted and their appointments are confirmed.
The restructuring move is seen as a strategic effort to revamp the country’s security apparatus and ensure effective service delivery.
