A devastating accident on the Oterkporlu Odumase stretch has claimed the lives of two young men, Wisdom Gbli Horla and Benedict Gbli.
The victims, both active players of the Blockbusters Volleyball Team from Asesewa in the Eastern Region, were traveling to a volleyball game at Odumase when the incident occurred.
According to Citi news report, the victims were riding a motorcycle and attempted to overtake a pickup truck ahead of them. However, they veered into the lane of an oncoming tipper truck, which was descending from the Odugblase limestone mines.
The driver of the tipper truck, with registration number GS 521-23, was unable to swerve due to the heavy load and the winding nature of the road.
The accident has sent shockwaves through the community, with many expressing sadness and outrage over the loss of two young lives. The Odumase Police Command has initiated an investigation into the incident and is appealing for witnesses to come forward.
The Motor Transport and Traffic Directorate (MTTD) of the Odumase Police Command responded promptly to the scene, assisting with traffic control and conveying the victims’ remains to the St. Martin de Porres Hospital morgue for autopsy.
The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
