The National Democratic Congress (NDC) UK and Ireland Chapter has paid a courtesy visit to Minister for Labour, Jobs and Employment, Dr. Rashid Pelpuo, congratulating him on his appointment.
The group expressed readiness to support his vision and commended the Ministry’s proactive leadership.
They pledged to collaborate on labour initiatives benefiting Ghanaians globally, highlighting areas such as easing accommodation struggles for migrants in the UK and exploring formalized recruitment pathways for skilled workers.
The recognition of Ghanaian teaching certificates in the UK presents opportunities for structured migration partnerships, they noted.
The NDC UK Chapter also encouraged Minister Pelpuo to push forward with the review of Ghana’s Labour Law in light of the proposed 24-hour economy. “Increasing working hours could boost productivity and incomes, aligning with international trends,” they suggested.
Dr. Pelpuo welcomed the visit, assuring the group that reforms are underway to modernize the labour framework.
He emphasized the importance of diaspora-government partnerships in building a resilient economy, praising the Chapter’s commitment to national development.
