Three teenagers have died in a tragic road accident on the night of April 16, 2025 at Assin Asempanaye in the Central Region.
The incident occurred when a KIA Granbird bus, with registration number GT 5727-20 and carrying 42 passengers from Kumasi to Takoradi, collided with an unregistered Royal motorbike carrying the victims.
The motorbike was being ridden by 16-year-old Wisdom Anane, who had two pillion passengers: Philip Agborka, 16, and Philip Tetteh, 17.
Preliminary investigations by the Central North Regional Police MTTD of the Ghana Police Service suggest that the bus driver, 50-year-old Akwasi Adjei, failed to exercise due caution and crashed into the motorbike near the Assin Kushea junction on the Cape Coast–Kumasi highway as the teenagers were negotiating a curve.

The impact caused the motorbike and its riders to become trapped under the bus and dragged for approximately 120 meters before the vehicle finally came to a halt.
All three teenagers sustained critical injuries and were rushed to St. Francis Xavier Hospital in Assin Fosu, where they were pronounced dead on arrival. Their bodies have been deposited at the hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.

Both the KIA bus and the mangled motorbike have been impounded at the Assin Praso Police Station to aid in ongoing investigations. Driver Akwasi Adjei is currently in police custody assisting with the inquiry.
The police command is urging all motorists to exercise extreme caution on the roads to prevent such heartbreaking incidents.
