The National Service Authority (NSA) has engaged with the Military High Command to discuss the upcoming National Service Emergency Response Readiness Programme (NSERRP).
The program, a key part of President John Mahama’s vision, is set to implement short military training for National Service Personnel (NSPs) starting in August.
It is aimed at instilling discipline, physical fitness, and a sense of nationalism among Ghanaian graduates.
According to the Authority, the initiative, first announced during the President’s State of the Nation Address on February 27, 2025, reflects the government’s commitment to building a more disciplined and nationally conscious youth, preparing them for a future of national service and development.
During the April 23 meeting, NSA Director-General Mr. Felix Gyamfi emphasized the importance of the military training as a foundational component of the National Service program. “The introduction of this military training is a step in the right direction and must be embraced by all as a key factor in resetting the country, particularly the youth,” he noted, underscoring its role in fostering national development.
Brigadier General Amoah-Boakye, speaking on behalf of the Military High Command, assured the NSA of the military’s readiness to provide the necessary training to National Service Personnel once the program officially begins.
The National Service Military Training is set to begin on August 3, 2025, with personnel receiving up to two months of comprehensive military drills aimed at shaping them into disciplined, physically fit, and nationalistic individuals ready to contribute to Ghana’s progress.
