Anthony Sarpong, a Senior Partner at auditing firm KPMG, has been appointed as the Acting Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), effective immediately.
This appointment follows the resignation of Julie Essiam, who served as Commissioner-General for less than a year. Essiam’s resignation took effect immediately, according to a letter dated January 20, 2025.
Sarpong’s appointment is pending the constitutionally required advice of the government Board, in consultation with the Public Services Commission. He has 14 days to accept or decline the offer.
During her tenure, Essiam highlighted the Authority’s achievements, particularly its revenue performance for the 2024 fiscal year.
She expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve as Commissioner-General, a position she held since March 24, 2024.
