A Proven Expert in Finance and Taxation
Kwasi Sarpong’s impressive career began at the University of Ghana Business School, where he earned a BSc in Administration (Accounting) in 1996. His thirst for knowledge took him beyond Ghana’s borders, leading to an MSc in Financial Risk Management from London Metropolitan University and executive education at Harvard University and London Business School.
A Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Practitioner, he holds fellowships with the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (ICAG) and memberships with the Chartered Institute of Taxation, Ghana (CITG) and the Ghana Association of Restructuring and Insolvency Advisors (GARIA).
Decades of Leadership in Finance and Reform
Kwasi Sarpong’s career trajectory is nothing short of remarkable. He spent over two decades at KPMG Ghana, rising to become Country Managing Partner, where he played a key role in the leadership of KPMG Africa. His work in audit, assurance, risk management, and restructuring helped solidify KPMG’s reputation as a powerhouse in financial consultancy.
Beyond the corporate world, his contributions to Ghana’s economic development are substantial. He played a leading role in shaping the domestic revenue mobilisation policy for the Ministry of Finance, which has significantly improved the country’s tax collection efforts. His expertise was also instrumental in designing Ghana’s first road financing framework, aligning infrastructure development with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

His commitment to national development was evident during the COVID-19 pandemic when he played a crucial role in managing the private sector fund that built Ghana’s first infectious disease centre at the GA East Hospital.
